How To Install The Optional Backup Battery In The TP-50
The TP-50 can use an Optional Backup Battery that keeps it operational for up to 24 hours or 100 punches in the event of a power outage. When the TP-50 is AC powered, the battery is in a state of recharging. The battery automatically takes over in the event of power interruption.
It is recommended to use the battery backup where the possibility for power outages is high.
To install the optional battery:
1. Purchse the optional Backup Battery from a SEIKO Precision dealer.
2. Insert the key in the top cover, unlock and remove the compartment cover.
3. Seat the Battery inside the compartment in the top.
4. Connect the battery connector ends.
5. Tuck the extra cord inside the unit.
6. Replace the top cover.
Once the battery is installed, the TP-50 is ready for normal use. No additional programming is needed. For further assistance or how to order the backup battery, please contact our Technical Support Department by e-mail.
How To Insert Or Replace The Ribbon In The TP-50
In using the TP-50, the ribbon can print about 60,000 impressions or last for a min. of 1 year of normal use provided the ribbon is used at normal temperature and humidity. It must be replaced with SEIKO Part Number TP-1051 (available in black –N or red –R). To order such a ribbon please contact us via e-mail. To change or replace the ribbon:
1. Remove the top cover.
2. Hold the Ribbon by its handle.
3. Pull the old Ribbon carefully towards the side and lift out of the TP-50.
4. Place the new ribbon inside the TP-50, within the clasps that hold the ribbon into place. Make sure the ribbon cassette locks in place. While doing so make sure the ribbon is threaded between the Print Head and Ribbon Mask. If the ribbon is not threaded correctly, the clock may not print properly or very faint and show one or more errors because the ribbon cassette can block the mechanism.
5. After the ribbon is inserted, turn the knob on the ribbon to make sure it is threaded in place. One turn of the little knob is typically enough.
THE RIBBON DOES NOT TIGHTEN TO THE TOUCH. EXCESSIVE TURNING WILL CAUSE THE LIFE OF THE RIBBON TO SHORTEN.
6. After the ribbon is inserted correctly, place the cover back to continue use.
For further assistance, contact our Technical Support Department by e-mail.
